Welcome to Mud & Mascara Mini Farm!
Our journey into the world of dairy goats started the way many great adventures do—with a child's big dream and a coop full of poultry. When our daughter, Tiny, joined the 4-H poultry club and decided to add goat showing to her adventures, it was the perfect spark that ignited a lifelong dream of mine to own a farm. Luckily, my husband, Matt, loves animals just as much as I do, and together, we dove headfirst into building our dream.
We completely fell in love with Miniature Nubians—not just for their distinctively adorable floppy ears and manageable size, but for their incredible production value. Our story officially began in 2024 with our first two does, Violet and Victoria. In 2025, our herd expanded when Potter and Troll joined the farm. (And because Matt had always wanted a pig, I did some searching, which led to our sweet boys Pumbaa and Timon joining the farm family just a few months later!) Earlier this year, Tulip, Twilight, Riot, and Renegade arrived, officially completing our incredible "Foundation" Herd.
As MDGA registered breeders, our ultimate goal is the true betterment of the breed. With our foundation herd set, we focus intensely on structural correctness—prioritizing strong udder attachments, level toplines, and correct feet, alongside natural parasite resistance and calm, friendly temperaments.
While I manage the daily operations and herd health, Mud & Mascara is a true family dream. Matt is our resident contractor, builder, and ultimate backup farmer. Tiny is a hands-on breeder in her own right, completely overseeing the healthcare, breeding plans, and show career of her beloved Victoria. And our youngest, Keegan, serves as our official herd "bombproofer"—exposing our goats to the joyful chaos of a toddler while learning the ins and outs of farm life. You'll often find him out in the yard during chores, enthusiastically attempting to lead or milk the goats.
Whether you are looking for your next show-ring champion, a stellar milk producer, or a healthy, heavily socialized companion, we are proud of the herd we are building here at Mud & Mascara Mini Farm.
Thank you for sharing in our journey!
People always ask us where the name Mud & Mascara came from.
It actually started with the funny dynamic between our family's personalities. I’ve always been more of a tomboy, whereas our daughter, Tiny, is a girly girl through and through. My husband, Matt, loves cars and never minds getting dirty, and in 2024, we welcomed our son Keegan, who is all boy! We actually first spotted the phrase on a shirt at a drag race, and it just instantly clicked for us.
Today, it’s the perfect snapshot of our daily life on the farm. The Mud is the raw, gritty reality of farm life—the muddy boots, the early morning chores, the heavy lifting, the midnight kiddings, and the everyday grind of keeping a herd healthy and thriving.
The Mascara represents the passion, pride, and show-ring charm. It’s that final, polished touch when all our hard work pays off, and we step into the ring to showcase the beautiful animals we’ve dedicated ourselves to raising.
Around here, we aren't afraid to get our hands dirty to build something beautiful. It’s a little bit of grit, a little bit of glam, and a whole lot of heart!
